Nancy Snedden is a Senior Vice President in BDO’s St. John’s Financial Recovery Services office. Nancy oversees the insolvency, credit counselling, and debt help practice for Atlantic Canada, but is based in Newfoundland & Labrador and serves that province including the Avalon Peninsula, Clarenville, Bonavista, Gander, Grand Falls-Windsor, Burin Peninsula, Corner Brook, Stephenville and everywhere else in between.

Nancy has been living and working in the St. John’s area for over 15 years and has assisted thousands of individuals with creative and practical solutions to resolve their financial difficulties. She has a broad range of financial recovery experience for businesses of all sizes including bankruptcy filings, proposals to creditors, receiverships, and court-appointed receiver-manager experience.

She is actively involved in the profession as a past member of the board of the Newfoundland & Labrador Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals, as well as a past member of the board of the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals.

Nancy is equally committed to her passion for health and fitness – and in her free time is most likely to be found cycling, walking, running, or training at the gym.

Adam Cardwell

Adam spent over ten years as a Credit Counsellor before leaving a senior role to join the Deloitte team in 2015. In 2016 Adam joined BDO Canada LLP when to two firms merged their Personal Restructuring Practice’s.

As a Senior Associate Adam is responsible for interviewing and providing counselling to clients. He is responsible for reviewing BDO files for NL, ON and QC prior to their discharge and preparing the associated documents.

Adam completes and issues the Receipts & Disbursements once files are closed, and is a member of the marketing team responsible for promoting the firm’s services to the community.

Growing up in Gander, NL Adam moved to St. John’s after completing his B.S.C. at Acadia University. In 2015 Adam became an Accredited Financial Counsellor, and in 2016 successfully completed the Insolvency Counsellors Qualification Course through CAIRP (Canadian Association of Insolvency & Restructuring Professionals).

Yvette Power

Yvette Power resides in Mount Pearl ,NL. Yvette began her career with Touche Ross in 1989 then merged with Deloitte in 1990. Just prior to the merger with BDO Yvette was promoted as Manager. Yvette completed the course on Insolvency Administration through CAIRP and the Insolvency’s Counselors Qualifications course.

Over the last 27 years Yvette has helped thousands of individuals in Nfld and Labrador that face money challenges to administer their bankruptcy or consumer proposal. Yvette oversees all the Proposals filed by the Nfld practice and is a coach and mentor to junior staff.

Yvette has also worked very closely with the local FA partner for all local marketing initiatives and was a member of Deloitte’s National marketing group. Yvette also volunteers with Daffodil Place in Nfld (a place for people with cancer and their caregivers to stay while receiving treatments).

Sharon Smith

Senior Associate

Sharon joined BDO with the merge of Deloitte Restructuring Inc. on November 15, 2016. She started with Deloitte in Sept 1990 in St. John’s as an analyst, and has since completed the Counsellor’s Qualification Course and CAIRP Insolvency Administrators Course.

With her years of experience Sharon has the knowledge to administer a file from start to finish.

Her most recent position as a Senior Associate involves banking, dealing with Corporate estates and closing files for Ontario, Quebec and Newfoundland (Center of Excellence).

She also travel outside of St. John’s to see potential clients when needed. During her leisure time Sharon enjoys walking, reading and road trips.
