Lisa Demers is a Senior Insolvency Administrator for the Kingston, Brockville, and Ottawa areas – working for BDO Canada Limited.
Lisa joined BDO – Kingston in September 2011 – bringing with her 22 years of expertise in consumer bankruptcy and consumer proposal administration, as well as a personal passion for credit counselling.
Lisa is known for her friendly, supportive, methodical, and calm approach when meeting with individuals in need of debt help. By her own admission, Lisa finds personal reward in listening to each person’s story – knowing there are options she can offer to help, regardless of the circumstances. In fact, of the many things that Lisa has learned throughout her diverse career, one that daily comes to mind is that while everyone’s financial circumstances are unique – everyone is the same when it comes to the sense of relief and reassurance when she shows them how and why their financial problems are manageable.
Once an individual’s debt help needs have been identified, Lisa ensures that any financial arrangements that suit them equally benefit the people they owe money to, because a win-win situation is the only way to guarantee a long-term solution for long-term debt problems.
As Lisa methodically works her way through the insolvency administration processes step by step – be it through bankruptcy, a consumer proposal, or credit counselling sessions, people in Kingston who have worked with Lisa have remarked how clear it is that she is gratified in her work and many hope that she will stay in the profession for a long time to come.
Lisa grew up in the Ottawa Valley and Ottawa area (with the exception of 7 years in Alberta) and is happy to be serving her home community. When she is not focused on work, Lisa is most likely to be found with her children – watching movies and relaxing, or outdoors with her dogs.Professional Designations & Education
