Douglas Jones is the President in charge of the Financial Recovery Services Practice for BDO Canada Ltd., also known as BDO First Call Debt Solutions, and serves the region that spans from Sudbury in the north to Peterborough in the south.

Douglas has 29 years of Insolvency and Restructuring experience in both consumer (personal) and commercial insolvency. His significant commercial insolvency experience includes the valuation, restructuring and winding up of companies of all sizes. This experience includes the corporate restructuring of a publicly traded company, liquidation of The Dominion Trust Company and Insolvency proceedings for numerous small and medium sized businesses.

In addition to his commercial experience, Doug has developed a sizable personal insolvency and small business practice, personally helping people in his Barrie, Orillia, Bracebridge, Barrie and Midland offices. In times of great distress, Doug is able to provide his extensive expertise with professionalism, understanding and compassion.

Kirsten Bradley

Kirsten Bradley

Senior Insolvency Administrator

Kirsten joined BDO Canada in 2015 following her previous 5 years of insolvency experience as an estate administrator. She has successfully completed the Insolvency Administration and Insolvency Counsellor’s Qualification Courses through CAIRP (Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring professionals).

Her fresh perspective, work ethic and compassion for others creates a trusting relationship between her and her clients. Her counselling skills stems from over 10 years as a child and family counsellor after graduating from the University of Guelph with an Houours in Applied Science.

As a busy mother of four Kirsten understands the unpredictable daily demands of everyday life which allows her to add a personal approach to every interaction she has with clients. She understands that debt problems can leave you feeling like all aspects of your life feel out of control. It is her belief that empowerment can be given when individuals have the budgeting and financial tools to help them take control of their finances and move forward.

Louise has been with BDO for over 16 years, obtaining her certified Counselors certificate in 2003 and becoming a certified Insolvency Administrator in 2004. Louise has been a manager within the Insolvency Department of BDO since 2004 and over that time has assisted many people with options for their journey through financial recovery.

As a member of the Barrie Insolvency team, Louise is involved with people from their complimentary initial consultation, through to their discharge and beyond.

Louise finds it rewarding to assist people in a time when they need guidance and reassurance about the options and solutions available to dealing with debt wisely and improving one’s well-being financially. Louise is proud to say, BDO can help you as we have with so many people for nearly 60 years in the industry.

Louise has lived in Barrie since she moved to the city as a student at Georgian College in 1981. She has been involved in her community as a member of the parents committee for 16 years, Barrie Minor Hockey Association, Barrie Minor Baseball, volunteering with the Canadian Liver Foundation and an active volunteer with the Canadian Cancer Society’s Run for the Cure.

Shannon has been working in the Bankruptcy and Insolvency field since 2008 and has been with BDO Canada Limited since November 2015. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Nipissing University and successfully completed the Insolvency Counselor’s course in 2010 and Insolvency Administrator’s course in 2011 through the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals. She has extensive experience in consumer insolvency and has now turned her focus to commercial insolvency issues. In addition to her specialization in commercial insolvency, Shannon also manages all assets for consumer and commercial estates.

Shannon is passionate about helping people and thrives on assisting individuals and businesses restructure their finances in order to get a fresh start.

Cate Theriault

Insolvency Administrator

Prior to joining BDO Canada in 2009, Catherine (Cate) Theriault has worked in the Insolvency industry since 1990 and has extensive experience in personal insolvency working as a Senior Estate Administrator. She has successfully completed the Insolvency Counselling Course through Ryerson and the Insolvency Administrator’s Course through the Canadian Association of Insolvency and Restructuring Professionals. Previously, she studied Psychology and Social Development Studies at the University of Waterloo.

Cate understands how difficult it can be for her clients to make the initial call for assistance and she prides herself in providing a comfortable and compassionate environment where people can have their questions and concerns answered. She develops a tailored approach for each person’s individual circumstance that allows them to find relief from the financial burdens they have been struggling with.

Financial counselling is extremely important to Cate as she believes this is the key to allowing people to learn the skills needed to develop a budget and plan for their future without having to rely on credit. With her guidance and down to earth personality she takes the fear out of financial restructuring and provides her clients with real life skills to move forward.
