As of August 24, 2020

  • Changes to Canada Emergency Response Benefit:

    • Starting Sept. 27, claimants of CERB will be transitioning onto a revamped Employment Insurance (EI) program.
  • Expanded Employment Insurance (EI) eligibility :
    • Canadians with 120 insurable hours can apply and receive a minimum payment of $400 per week and a maximum of $573 per week, depending on past earnings. Past requirements were a minimum of 420 to 700 insurable hours, according to region.
    • EI benefits can be claimed for a period of 26 to 45 weeks, depending on time worked prior.
